What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Statistics

I collect anonymized statistics on website visits. I use the WP Statistics plugin, read on its GDPR compliance here. I do not use Google Analytics. I have no Facebook, Twitter or other plugins that collect your data.

No cookies are used, no data is shared with third parties.

The statistics do not include IP addresses, the last octet of any IP address is set to zero. Thus, I have no way to track you using these statistics.

Ratings and feedback

You can anonymously rate any story from 1 to 5 stars. IP addresses are retained to detect double voting, and are not used for any other purpose. If you submit feedback on your rating, I receive by mail only the text you provide and no IP address, cookies, e-mail address or anything else. You are free to add personal information to your message, which I will then use for the purpose(s) you indicate.

Subscriptions to notifications

If you subscribe to the newsletter, you will receive notifications from me when new content has been added or relevant features have been changed. You will not receive advertisements, nor will your e-mail address be used for any purpose other than those notifications.

To unsubscribe, just reply to the notification with ‘unsubscribe’ or any message to that effect.

Who we share your data with

Personal data is not shared with anyone. Anonymized statistics are shared with my other companies out of pure interest. I also share these statistics with my wife.

What rights you have over your data

As far as I can tell (and I’m a GDPR lawyer) I do not retain personal data of you as a visitor. But just to be clear, you have the right to get a copy of your personal data, and I will amend or remove any of your personal data as you instruct me. You’ll have to tell me how I know certain data is yours though. I honestly do not know.

How we protect your data

This site is hosted by Savvii of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. See their Data Processing Agreement and Security Updates to learn of their protection mechanisms.

What data breach procedures we have in place

Savvii has extensive data breach reporting in place. Any data breaches will be reported to the Dutch supervisory authority. If you are affected and you provided an e-mail address, I will contact you.
